Paintings by David Kendrick, opening Nov 3

Looking ahead, David Kendrick’s show of abstract paintings opens Sat Nov 3 with a reception for the artist 6-9pm. The gallery will be open weekends 12-6 pm and Mon-Thu 2-6pm through Nov 26.

“My art has evolved from my earliest realism period toward bold abstraction. It is an ever-changing vehicle of continuous movement of shape, form and color.
For me, painting is a daring adventure into the unknown, a quest for truth assisted by the actions of the paint brush.
I work for that inner voice: that search, that unknown, that mystical metamorphosis that sometimes appears and in return sends out vibrations called art.”

Windsong, acrylic on canvas, 44″x60″, David Kendrick

Salon Series continues with 2 events Sat Aug 25

Authors Kat Savino & Sarah-Jane deBrito Martin will read new works at Catalyst this Saturday evening Aug 25 at 7:30pm.

Sarah-Jane deBrito Martin will also be holding an interactive storytelling event at Catalyst earlier on Saturday afternoon at 3pm, see below for details. All are welcome! These events are part of the summer salon series that Carin White is hosting at the gallery during her exhibition of paintings, which is up through Sept 3.

Paintings by Carin Jean White

Spontaneity, physicality, and expressive force are prioritized in Carin Jean White’s artwork. Her oil paintings are in the vein of gestural abstraction as she finds the composition through the process of creating the work. Often playful, often reminiscent of natural landscapes, White’s paintings are a joy to experience.

On view now through September 2.

All Is Fair: Stamper Dear, Cory Spraker, Amanda Henneberry July 3-16

All Is Fair with works by Stampie Dear, Cory Spraker and Amanda Henneberry opens July 3 with an artist reception Sat July 7, 6-9pm. Closing reception Sat July 14, 6-9pm.

Stamper

Stamper will be showcasing her “Scar Series,” a collection of poems that flirt with the idea of hurt and healing, as well as her “She(Her)” photography works – an ethereal and overtly feminine self portrait series, exploring the dreamy and pastoral backdrops of yesteryear and today

Cory Spraker

Cory will be displaying works that explore the softness of the human body. The use of ballpoint pen juxtaposed with delicate plant pressings allow him to explore a quiet intimacy with nature.

Amanda Henneberry

Amanda’s work will bring together several of her large points of focus in art: abstract thought, abstract photo, politics and contemporary activism, writing, painting, nature and color theory – all organized by color, in tribute to the way she organizes her personal book collection at the home she shares with Stamper and Cory. Special printed copies of her art/poetry book, “Growth,” will be on display and available to purchase with hand-painted covers.
